About Us

Undoubtedly one of the foremost and longstanding choirs in British Gospel the Wood Green Gospel Choir (WGGC) has been striving for the mark since its inception in 1981.

Hailing from the Wood Green branch

of the New Testament Church of God, WGGC consists of up to 40 committed Christians who simply love to worship God through music.Their style is dynamic, never holding back, always giving the best in every performance.

Originally formed as a local church choir, WGGC initially performed in local church concerts in the London area, however as their reputation grew, they travelled the country and in 1992 finally had their first break when they performed on the Gospel TV show "People Get Ready", along with the internationally renowned Oslo Gospel Choir. From there on they have performed in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Northern Ireland, South Africa, Italy, France, Czech Republic, and all over the United Kingdom.

In 1997 the Choir reached another milestone when they released their first CD album, "This Fellowship". The album consisted entirely of original songs written by Isaac Carter, Paul Brown and Andrew Smith, and was received to critical acclaim in the BGM industry which culminated with it being nominated for the Best Gospel Album Award at the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards.

This was followed by the release of the choir's second album,
"On Christmas Night" in December 2000. Both Albums have been produced by Minister Nicky Brown, and have featured some of BGM's leading musicians.

The choir has also continued to develop their TV repertoire with appearances on Blue Peter, Live & Kicking, Sunday Morning (Anglia TV), Morning Worship (BBC1), and several other cable TV appearances. Also radio appearances on BBC Radio London and Radio 4. More recently the choir appeared on Channel 4’s "How Clean Is Your House", and at the benefit concert for the disaster in Haiti.

As for the future, what does it hold? Our future is in God's hands.
